Emerge Kentucky Biannual Event

Nov 4 2017 - 5:30pm - 9:00pm
The Henry Clay
604 South 3rd Street
Louisville, KY, 40202

Emerge Kentucky, the Commonwealth's premier organization that recruits and trains Democratic women to run for office, will hold its biannual event on November 4. Local elected officials, candidates for political office and other stakeholders will gather to celebrate the success of the organization, honor its alums and women leaders from across the Bluegrass and recommit themselves to addressing the difficulties that Kentucky Democratic women face when they decide to run for office.

Emerge Kentucky’s work is critical to getting more women into elected positions across the Commonwealth, achieving gender parity and taking back power in the state. Last year, Democrats lost control of the state legislature for the first time in 95 years, as Donald Trump and Republicans took control of the White House and Congress. These events sparked a wave of women stepping forward to run for office across the state and the country. If Democrats want to regain control of Kentucky, it starts this year and it starts with Democratic women.

Emerge Kentucky and the women the organization trains are the silver lining that is going make the Bluegrass blue again. Since 2009, Emerge Kentucky has trained more than 165 women to run. The organization has 26 women currently serving in elected office and more than 20 set to run in 2018. What's more, in the 2016 election 61 percent of the Emerge Kentucky alumnae on the ballot won their races.
